Underworld live at Reading 1996

cover of an Underworld bootleg CDR
Underworld, taped off the radio in 1996 playing at the Reading Festival. This is the best i have ever heard from Underworld. This definitely kicks the arse off their live album, though it's only 25 minutes or so. Seriously, listen to this even if you don't particularly like this band, there's magic in this set.

Jim Pepper - Pepper's Pow Wow (1971)

Jim Pepper's Pow Wow
You'll love this album. it's groovy, funky, it rocks and it also has a sound basis in some of the traditional music of North America, released in 1971. Again, this is an album you can't really find online, in fact it's quite difficult to get anything by Jim Pepper on the internet. Enjoy...

btw, let me know if you can't get this download, i had some odd megaupload issues with this one.

John Renbourn - Another Monday lp 1966

A very controversial post this, because this is an actual album, which you can (and legally should) actually buy.

John Renbourn - Another Monday front cover

Basically I looked for this excellent album to download on the various blogs and using bittorrent and couldn't find it, so i bought a copy of this album. I think it was well worth the money, and you should think so too, in my opinion. Having said that, i am posting it here for the reason that i couldn't download it, so here's your chance if you want to download this album.

I guess this is under the proviso that if you do and you like it, you should buy it. Also, anybody who tells me to remove this download will find that i *will* do so as soon as i can, because this really is a breach of copyright, that's if someone were to download this and not buy the album. You get the idea. Enjoy it anyway!

It's very listenable fingerstyle british folk guitar with some guest singing and oboe et cetera, quite innovative at the time, this style is now considered to be a mainstay of the folk genre.

1. Another Monday
2. Ladye Nothinge's Toye Puffe
3. I Know My Babe
4. Waltz

6. One for William

John Peel's Perfumed Garden 7 Aug 1967 part two

Part Two has also been remastered by somebody else and is circulating as 6th August 1967, which it might well be for all i know. In my opinion, this version's superior only because of the better audio quality of the John Peel links.

4:12 - Moby Grape - Hey Grandma (single version)
7:01 - Norman Snager (!!!!!?) - Waves

John Peel's Perfumed Garden 7 August 1967 on Radio London PART ONE

John Peel's Perfumed Garden 7 August 1967

PART ONE (PART TWO TO FOLLOW)

Original source: a file in one of the John Peel torrents A nice long tape, with what is, in my opinion, a superior recording of Perfumed Garden Blues by Geoffrey Prowse to the one on the "Final Perfumed Garden" remaster. The other track I couldn't get anywhere was "I'd Like To Know" by David Blue.

0:00 - Country Joe and the Fish - Not So Sweet Martha Lorraine
4:47 - Canned Heat - Rollin' and Tumblin'
8:04 - David Blue - I'd Like To Know (with tape issues)
10:33 - Jeff Beck - Rock My Plimsoul (B-side version, called stereo mix on "Truth" reissue)
14:54 - The Beatles - I Want To Tell You
19:32 - The Misunderstood - I Can Take You To The Sun
22:26 - Incredible String Band - Little Cloud
27:07 - Pink Floyd - Take Up Thy Stethoscope And Walk
31:10 - Geoffrey Prowse - Perfumed Garden Blues or John Peel's Lament
34:49 - Tim Buckley - Song, Slowly, Song
39:17 - Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band - Sure 'nuff And Yes I Do
41:55 - Donovan - To Try for The Sun

John Peel on Radio London 1st July 1967 plus other clips

Original source Radio Rewind, but somebody had edited out all the records, so i edited them all back in. I'll admit the Pink Floyd one's a bit of a guess but it's the only Pink Floyd record i can find mentioned in any Radio London playlists for that week.

0:00 - Pink Floyd - See Emily Play
3:21 - The Hollies - Carrie Anne
6:27 - Roy Orbison - Cry Softly, Lonely One
9:55 - Donovan - Sunshine Superman
15:29 - The Association - Windy
19:44 - John Walker - Annabella

Also in this folder: John Peel being interviewed on WRR radio, Dallas, TX, John Peel on Radio London July 1967, playing "European Son of Delmore Schwartz" by Velvet Underground, and two other Radio London clips

The Orb - BBC session 12 October 1998

I think this is taken from the Evening session, it's a 40 minute set by The Orb. The tracks are supposedly the following, but i remain sceptical:

Assassin
Little Fluffy Clouds
Perpetual Dawn
Toxygene

DJ Shadow live in Oxford in 1997

DJ Shadow at Oxford November 1997
I don't know much about this one. It was taped off the radio in 1997, a live set by DJ Shadow. Very good. it has a lot of stuff off of Endtroducing i think, including Midnight in a Perfect World and the one about the Organ.

Probably available everywhere, but anyway, taped off the radio and tracks are as follows:

0:00 - Fixed Income
5:30 - Lost And Found
16:52 - High Noon
20:55 - Organ Donor
24:18 - Midnight In A Perfect World

Supposedly, this is the Sound City 30 Nov 1997 set. From looking at the tracks it doesn't appear to be. Still, Steve Lamacq can be heard at about 20:45 saying it is.

Here, check out these other sources:

John Peel on Radio London 18th July 1967

Inspired by the "Final Perfumed Garden" reconstruction, I've remastered this old John Peel tape which is in John Peel Torrent 8 (i think). The original tape is okay, but by modern standards it's still unlistenable. All i've done here is splice in the the records that were on the tape along with all the links by John Peel. I've attempted to normalise the loudness too. It's split into two halves and is a few minutes longer than the original tape because i've included the full songs in places where the original tape is truncated. Enjoy, and thanks to the original taper and uploader.

John Peel on Radio London 11th august 1967 - remastered

Radio London - John Peel on Radio London 11th august 1967

Inspired by the Final Perfumed Garden reconstruction, I've done the same with this show. ie: i've got as many of the actual records (well, mp3s of the records) as i could find and edited them together to make a higher fidelity recording than had originally survived, but as close to the original tape as possible. I haven't done anything fancy, just good old fashioned splicing. I tried my best to normalise loudness too. Hope you enjoy.

There are a couple of songs i couldn't source, and one or two that i could only find in mono but by and large i think the end result is more enjoyable to listen to than the version in John Peel torrent 8 (or 7 is it?). Thanks to the original uploader though! I am very grateful.

This is slightly longer than the original recording, mainly because you get all of the Eddie Floyd song and most of the Truly Smith song, rather than just the snippets that were left on the original tape.

0:00 - Weather
1:05 - The Monkees - Pleasant Valley Sunday
4:30 - Billy Forrest (of the Dream Merchants) - Hello Lover
8:38 - Techniques - You Don't Care
11:32 - Radio London Big L film advertisement
12:50 - The Beatles - Day Tripper
16:14 - Advertisement
17:05 - Dave Davies - Death of a Clown
20:08 - Advertisement
20:41 - Eddie Floyd - Things Get Better
24.14 - Moby Grape - Omaha
27:05 - The Who - My Generation
30:59 - Arthur Conley - Shake, Rattle and Roll
33:40 - Strawberry Children - Love Years Coming
36:48 - Advertisement
37:30 - Truly Smith - I Wanna Go Back There Again

Dream City Film Club John Peel sessions 1996 and 1999

Again, I don't think this particular session has ever surfaced. The first one was released as a CD EP, but has been deleted by now along with all of DCFC's other stuff (on Beggar's Banquet except one single on ORG records, in case you're interested) and the second session was broadcast but never released, and it hasn't popped up that i know of in any of these John Peel session torrents, though i could be wrong. Enjoy!

Whiteout - John Peel Session

There are quite a few John Peel sessions out there, but i haven't seen this one yet, so here it is. This is quite different from the live Whiteout stuff i posted yesterday, but still very good. John Peel sessions are usually four songs, so it's possible there's one missing. Who knows?

Hi all, well this is my first post here, and it's an obscure (depending on how you look at it) band from Greenock today, this is a live set off the radio and two songs off the TV. Tracks:

1. Starr Club (live Glasgow 04-04-94)
2. Get Me Thru (live Glasgow 04-04-94)
3. Shine on You (live Glasgow 04-04-94)

5. No Time (live Glasgow 04-04-94)
6. No Time live on The Beat (London Astoria)
